Barnstormer's maiden flight was on 8 November 2015 - highly successful & no issues whatsoever.

Since then the Barnstormer has spent 2 hrs 45 minutes airborne during 15 different flights ... the K&B 65 Sportster Engine behaved absolutely flawlessly and nowadays, when I want some relaxed - cruise by at walking pace - type of flights ... the David Boddington designed Barnstormer is my weapon of choice.

After our move to the new premises in Albertinia - all that remains is to set up the workshop again and then work will continue on the "Intro RC Plane..."

 4-8 March Progress...

Right ... Next up was to glue the 1st section of Litho Plate Sheeting in place on the Forward Hatch.
20130304_ARCFTrainer_107.JPG
Careful alignment was needed. Fred has had some experience doing this and with 2 pairs of hands the job was a (proverbial) "piece of cake"... ;)

Side-on view thus far was very satisfactory....

Couple more photos added as attachments...

So - by now the Forward Hatch was sheeted in Covered Litho Plat and rivets added & edging added.

The Pilot's view point would look something like this - by the time we get airborne...

Then just as an added bit of detail (bearing in mind that this is most certainly NOT a scale model) we decided to add Litho Plate Constructed Cockpit Doors...

Complete with "hinge line" & "Rivets" and "edging"...

Work will stop now until after the "Free Flight Event" scheduled for 29th March - 1st April. We will (DV) be back in the first week of April with your next update on this saga... B)

23 February - 1 March Progress...

The Main Wing (1865mm Span) is now done and ready to be covered.

Fuel Tank "seat" has been done and the Fuel Proofer is busy drying as I am typing this update.

Next up was the "Fuel Tank Bay Hatch" between the Cockpit area and the Firewall. The half formers & frame was done in Balsa.

Sheeting simply had to be done in litho plate (thin aluminium sheeting) and the finishing had to include rivets and proper edging. The hatch between the cockpit & firewall will be done like this. We've finished the aluminium sheeting (with covering & rivets) for the first half of the hatch already.

After covering was ironed on...

Rivets done and edging applied...

Edging?

Old black electric wiring was half-cut through in the length and wiring removed.

And - Voila - edging alla plenty !!! ;)

More next week....

B) Right...

Some fuselage prep work continued this week. We're just about ready to built the Hatch & Cockpit area...

We tackled the main wing - removed all the bad balsa (het hulle gestuur om in die hoekie te gaan staan) and installed the Flap & Aileron Servos.

Then the bellcrank assemblies for both the Flaps & Ailerons were checked and serviced.

So far so good.

The Main Wing (with Flaps & Ailerons) & Horizontal Stab & Elevator is now just about ready for covering...

:woohoo: A lot more was done this past week on what promises to be a GREAT RC PLANE!!!

Fred & myself have been enjoying fixing & replacing oil soaked sections & fitting new balsa sections & sanding & preparing etc.

More work was done on the fuselage - and the fuselage should near completion next week... Can't wait to get it done and to finalize the prep for covering. :woohoo:

The vertical stab & rudder was completed this week and we've done the covering and dry-fitted the hinges as well.

We simply love it !!!

So far so good.

More feedback next weekend...
